According to the City of Greater Geelong, the courts support:

  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Volleyball
  • Badminton
  • Pickleball
  • Futsal

The facility caters for casual recreation, sporting competitions, club training sessions, school programs and community activities.

Court hire is available for casual and regular bookings, subject to availability, making the venue useful for individuals, families, sporting clubs and local schools.

More Than Just a Sports Stadium

Tarratarra Stadium has been designed as a community destination, with spaces for recreation, social gatherings and events beyond traditional indoor sport.

The venue includes a café, meeting facilities, accessible amenities, a sensory room and spaces for community activities.

Outside, visitors can enjoy a civic plaza featuring basketball and netball hoops, outdoor table tennis, informal play areas, nature play spaces and landscaped areas for gathering.

The venue also provides on-site parking, electric vehicle charging and facilities intended to make the stadium accessible and welcoming to a wide range of visitors.

These shared spaces give residents another place to meet friends, stay active and spend time within their local neighbourhood.

What Does Tarratarra Mean?

The stadium’s name has a special connection to the traditional land on which it stands.

Tarratarra is a Wadawurrung language name gifted by the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation. It means “many wings” and was inspired by the River Red Gum Ghost Moth.

This connection to Country is reflected throughout the building, with moth-wing motifs incorporated into elements of the stadium’s design, including the exterior facade, internal spaces and signage.

The cultural design recognises the ongoing connection of Wadawurrung Traditional Owners to the area and incorporates the stories and natural environment that make this part of the region distinctive.

Where Is Tarratarra Stadium and When Is It Open?

The new stadium is located in Armstrong Creek, providing another sporting and recreational facility for residents of Armstrong Creek, Mount Duneed, Charlemont and surrounding communities.

Another Milestone for the Armstrong Creek Community

Armstrong Creek and its neighbouring suburbs continue to develop, with new homes, schools, shopping facilities and community spaces taking shape across the region.

The opening of Tarratarra Stadium adds another place for residents to take part in organised sport, enjoy recreational activities and connect with their neighbours.

For local families, sporting clubs and community organisations, having access to purpose-built facilities closer to home creates more opportunities to participate in activities throughout the year.

It’s another example of how community infrastructure can support the everyday lifestyle of people living throughout the Armstrong Creek growth corridor.
